💧Powered by sweat?
Researchers at the University of Massachusetts have figured out how to harness our sweat for electricity using a biofilm that powers wearable devices.
The biofilm would stick to our skin like a band-aid and uses bacteria that converts energy from evaporation into electricity.
"This is a very exciting technology, it is real green energy, and unlike other so-called 'green-energy' sources, its production is totally green."—said team member and electrical and computer engineering graduate student Xiaomeng Liu.
The best part? The film is produced naturally by the microbes, with no need for unsustainably produced material or toxic waste byproducts.
So far, the biofilm produces enough energy to power small devices such as medical sensors or personal electronics.
👾 The Merge: Ethereum goes green
Crypto has gone eco. This September Ethereum will undergo “the merge,” its mainnet will merge with the Beacon Chain, making it a fully proof-of-stake system instead of its traditional proof-of-work model. The merge will decrease Ethereum’s energy consumption by 99.95%!
