Suzanne Simard is a Professor of Forest Ecology who’s focused her research on plant communication and intelligence. Her studies have uncovered the complex social structure of trees and their fungal communication networks, leading her to identify “Mother Trees.” These play an important role in the forest’s flow of information and resources helping trees forge vital relationships to keep the forest resilient, adaptable and to recover from intense deforestation.
🥩 German Federal Health Minister Calls for 80% Cut in Meat Consumption
In a recent interview the German Federal Health Minister Dr. Karl Lauterbach called for initiatives to dramatically cut meat consumption in Germany—such as taxing meat and subsidizing alt-meat products.
Lauterbach also references the health implications associated with cheap meat, pointing out the high rates of cardiovascular disease and bowel cancer amongst the poorest in the nation.
