Dear eco-nnecters,
This week it seems that the headlines we were desperately fighting to avoid, are here. But don’t let this paralyze you, turn this anxiety into action. It’s a time of reckoning, but also of awakening! We are living in such a crazy system that 1/3 of food produced is wasted, and fast fashion empires are burning their excess clothes in the Atacama desert in Chile. This insanity had to stop at some point.
It’s time for a regenerative and circular system to replace this nonsense and there are a lot of beautiful people working on it already. So don’t let the headlines scare you, use them instead to empower you.

🛣️ The Amazon Highway of Doom: BR-319
2022 might be the most important year for humanity. Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s current president, is campaigning, whether he wins or loses this October will set the tone for the future of the Amazon rainforest.
Part of his campaign trail is a pledge to repave BR319, a highway connecting the largest city in the Amazon, Manaus, with the rest of Brazil.
Of course, a highway cutting across a pristine rainforest is damaging for obvious reasons, but what is really scary is how much easier it will be for loggers, land grabbers and miners to penetrate the forest. A study estimated that BR-319 would result in a fivefold rise in deforestation by 2030.
If you’re Brazilian, please vote wisely this coming election. The world depends on it.
