Bee Bricks and Bird Boxes in Brighton
Due to rampant pesticide use bee populations worldwide are plummeting. This inspired a design studio in Cornwall to come up with Bee Bricks, a building brick designed for solitary bees to nest in. The city of Brighton has now ordered that every new building above 5m must include a bee brick and a bird nesting box to boost local biodiversity.
Although bees are dying due to habitat loss and pesticide use, bee bricks and bird boxes can change city dwellers’ relationship with local wildlife—encouraging them to ditch lawns for meadows and welcome back animals returning thanks to rewilding efforts.

Midnight Trains All Over Europe
Did you know that you can now take a sleeper train from Paris to Vienna? This Austrian firm has ambitious plans to connect European cities with sleeper trains.
Introducing the millennial alternative to the orient express. A hotel on rails set to launch in 2024 that connects 10 destinations to Paris. Imagine yourself leaving the office to enjoy a wonderful dinner aboard the train’s gourmet restaurant, then enjoying a night-cap cocktail before slipping away into a comfortable sleep in your cabin—only to wake up on the other side of Europe. It’s not just about the carbon footprint, it’s actually a much more pleasurable experience than a plane.

Orient Express Trains return to Italy in 2023
Six new trains will connect Paris, Rome, Split and Istanbul, with several different itineraries available to travelers looking to relive the glamour of twentieth-century rail travel.
Meanwhile Germany’s Green Party released its plan for the Euro Night Sprinter set to connect Europe by 2030.
