Hello crypto-meditators,✨
NFT’s are all the rage lately, so we delve deeper into our take on them. You might recognize John Doerr as silicon valley’s star investor or as the creator of Google’s famous OKRs—Objectives Key Results. Well he has OKRed the climate crisis. Finally a man with a plan. This week we lost the inspiring Zen master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. Below our favourite quotes and books by him.

NFTs👾
Non-fungible tokens. As we migrate to a web3 world and with it into the metaverse we look into what NFTs mean and why they’re more exciting than daunting. First came crypto and it disrupted fiat currency. Now come NFTs. Thanks to blockchain technology and crypto currency we can now purchase digital assets.
What we like about NFTs
Artists and creators can now move away from web2 reliance: spotify/facebook and can actually market and trace their assets by themselves.
Yet, the use of NFTs can be applied to more than just art, think NFTs applied to fashion, to tickets, to games, to eventually even a company—imagine fundraising through NFTs and DAOs—Decentralized Autonomous Organizations.
Basically our future will have a lot of NFTs and that actually excites us. NFTs like crypto give power back to the people and away from corporations.

The Energy Dilemma
Every crypto transaction uses energy. So purchasing NFTs also uses energy. Yet not all coins are created equal. Some use proof-of-work (bitcoin), which requires a lot of processing power and others proof-of-stake (flow coin), which requires a lot less energy. So when you’re purchasing an NFT and you’re worried about its footprint it really depends on which coin you’re purchasing it with.
I sometimes wonder whether the trashing campaign against NFTs is due to its confusing nature or the fact that web2 companies are worried about being dethroned. Comments/thoughts are much appreciated!
