Apparently to celebrate we need to dye the Chicago river electric green? If only it would encourage ancient Irish Brehon knowledge instead—our Green Guy is not impressed.

But fear not. Disposable masks are being turned into batteries for household devices. The batteries are a cheaper alternative being developed by researchers at MISIS. The team has other ambitious plan is to eventually apply the technology to large-scale batteries: eg electric cards and solar power stations. The team has also developed batteries using other non-conventional materials such as: coconut shells, rice husks, newspaper waste, and tyre waste

If successful this would be one of the most kick-ass two birds one stone technologies.
